If you're having trouble with the view, it's time to visit a repair shop. Problems with your headlights can increase your risk of accidents and injuries. Headlight issues can also increase your chances of getting a ticket. If your headlights aren't completely dead, you might think you have some time to wait, but that's not the case. You need to get to a repair shop as soon as you notice problems with your headlights. Not sure your headlight problems warrant a trip to the repair shop? Read the list below. If you're dealing with any of the issues described here, it's time to get your headlights repaired.

Your Lights Shine Down

If you're having trouble seeing the road, it's time to take a close look at the headlights. If your headlights are adjusted right, the light should shine in front of your car. The proper adjustment lets you see what's in front of you. If the light is shining down towards the street, you need to get your headlights adjusted. This type of illumination won't give you enough time to react to traffic changes or to obstacles in your way.

You Can't See the Road

If your headlights are adjusted right, but you still can't see the road, visit a repair shop right away. When you have good headlights, you should be able to see about 350 feet ahead of you. That distance allows you to see what's going on in front of you, and to the side. If you can't see the road, there's a good chance you need new headlights. An auto repair shop can take care of the installation for you. They'll even adjust the new headlights for you.

Your Lights Are Blinking

If your headlights blink when you're not using the turn signal, it's time for new headlights. The only lights that should blink are your turn signals and your hazard lights. Your headlights should provide a constant stream of light when they're on. If they blink or flicker, there could be a problem with the electrical connection. A trip to the repair shop will fix the problem.

Your View Is Distorted

If the view looks cloudy or distorted when you have your headlights on, don't wait for repairs. Over time, headlights can get a layer of oxidation. When that happens, you won't see things clearly. Luckily there's an easy fix. You can get your headlights cleaned. A mechanic can deep-clean the headlights to remove oxidation.
